Gail Bixler

Gail Bixler, a graduate of a master's program in Behavioral Science at the University of Houston, delivers the goods on dreams with an aesthetically and conceptually appealing Internet publication OnDreaming.com. This web site is a favorite among dream enthusiasts, including Wyatt Ehrenfels, who lauded its fidelity to the raw experience of dreaming.

Bixler writes, "Many dreams, especially dreams of anxiety, nightmares, and recurring dreams, are intrapersonal messages of unfinished business, often based on fears in which we have refused to acknowledge at a conscious level." Bixler's written treatise describes the history and theories of dreaming, the importance of dreamwork, and a summary of new research. Paticipants in Bixler's research produced a written account of a recent or recurring dream, the emotions associated with the dream experience, an artistic rendering (e.g. drawing) of the dream or some signature element of the dream, and an interpretation. Gail Bixler presented her research as part of the Millennial Dreaming program featured at the 2000 National Conference for the Association for the Study of Dreams.

Bixler weighed in on Wyatt Ehrenfels's fireflySun.com. "I fully agree with you about the psych profession. At times I wonder why I chose Psychology as a major, but I don't regret it as I know this was my calling. I'm sure you will keep on writing. Go for it."
